I have a new website design and portfolio that some of you might enjoy, and I appreciate comments and constructive criticism.

The intent of the website is to appeal to editorial and advertising photo buyers as the primary audience, so it assumes they are using modern browsers, fast connections, and have Flash installed. The images scale up and look good on larger monitors, but they may load slower than a site using small images. I understand the compromises involved and made these choices consciously.

Oh and a couple of the images show women's breasts and there is a picture of a roach on a night table. Just in case you're somewhere that would be sensitive.

Flash. Really? Doesn't your intended audience use primarily Macs?
But then maybe they don't, and maybe flash does run on Mac. I'm just using an iPad.

Edit: Nevermind, I can see your site on my iPad. I thought people weren't using flash so much anymore.

This is an off-topic comment, but I absolutely refuse to install Flash on my new MacBook Air.

I will look at your website with my other computer though.

The iPhone version works nicely. Very clean, quick to load (via wifi).
I do like the no bs vibe l get from it.

Sorry, I have uninstalled FLASH from my Mac, I can see it with Chrome if I really wanted to. But since I never enjoyed watching any flash site I don't bother.

Agree with all on flash, but I think your work is great, Frank, and this site is super easy to navigate and is not filled with distracting crap. I am not gaga about the menu font but otherwise I think it's exactly what it should be--a modest conduit for the photography.

This is personal preference I know, but I found I was constantly nudging myself to the right so as to be centered on the images when viewing on a laptop (trying to make sure that I get the correct viewing angle, making sure I get to see all nuances in the images)

If it was me - I would have vertical dead center in the middle of the images - with the menusystem a bit more to the left on the website, instead of center being somewhere between the menusystem and about 1/3 into the left side of the images.

Symmetry and perfect "balance" graphically is not always king - but content is paramount (the rest is packaging), and your content is and should be your very good images.

The focus of the website should be images - not somewhere in between.

I agree with mwootten and mabelsound - a simple but elegant interface that lets the photographs stand on their own. I like it very much - the site and the photography.

BTW, I'm on a Mac and I had no problems with the interface. While I understand that sometimes there are legitimate reasons, limitations or disadvantages to using Flash, I find it strange that anyone would refuse to view a site that uses it. For your targeted audience, I think it's fine.

Oh believe me, I've been in the web biz since the get-go (almost) and truly hate Flash in general, and it is quite ironic that I now have a Flash site. But it does scale photos very well and for now, it is the best solution for displaying the best quality images online to people with larger monitors - like editors, designers, and buyers. Not that the rest of you don't count ;-p but I have to follow the green....
