The march 17, 2008 edition of the New Yorker magazine contains an article about a recently discolsed album of pictured taken by the SS at Auschwitz. These pictures are particularly significant as they were taken by the SS at leisure and most poignant is an SS Officer lighting the candles on a Christmas Tree.
