My usual overseas travel kit is the M9 + three lenses and a small micro four thirds camera + three small lenses. Usually, one camera sits in a backpack while the other is out. I've tried this with a shoulder bag and it is possible but not optimal, weight wise.I tried lugging all that gear around my neighborhood just to try it out, and I decided the only way i could do it for an entire day for the duration of the entire trip is if my wife agrees to carry whichever camera I'm not shooting at the time. The chances of that happening are nil/zip/nada.
So, I'm leaving the Z6 III and 14mm at home. My planned gear for this trip are the MP and 28-35-50. I'm also adding a few rolls of film to make up for not bringing the Z6 III. I plan on shooting ~4 rolls per day.
Walkaround travel kit always needs to be carefully considered. An issue with overseas travel vs walking around town at home is that you need to account for buying things when out walking, like souvenirs, bottles of water, new camera bodies er um I mean gifts for others. 😅 Japan would very likely prompt such purchases.
Fortunately, you don't have to carry your entire film stash every day, only four rolls and one in the chamber, so to speak.
