I think I have settled on a new ZI and 35mm lens to get back into RF. From all I have gathered the ZI is particularly good for those of us encumbered by glasses. I intend to get a 75mm or 90mm soon thereafter and will not be straying into ultra wide stuff and if I am tempted later on then I'll get a R4A when they are become available. Having looked around though I could probably get an used M7 for the price of a new ZI. Having something I can used well with glasses is more important than a badge but I'd like to know my £s are going to be well spent. Any opinions folks?

Cheers, Carl

New Zi with vat...

from Robert White - with vat is £950.50 ish which coverts to around US$1800 - and RW prices are said to be good!

Least expensive used M7 I've seen is US$1665 on photo.net. A new ZI at popflash is US$1260. You have seen a used M7 on sale for $1300?

Sorry I misunderstood your post. That's the price of a new ZI. Hmmm, expensive comparatively speaking. OK from a totally biased perspective as an M7 owner and having only held a ZI and looked through the VF (which is amazing), unless you wear glasses and really need that VF I would say get an M7 if you can get one for <=$1800.

Thanks Carl! 🙂 You really need to try for yourself if you can get to a dealer. It is worth it for things like camera bodies and tripods. Can you manage that?

Probably not...

Probably not...

Although I have used an M6! Even in glasgow no-one appears to have a ZI 🙁

OK so you're in Glasgow. I think you should try to locate a ZI (dealer or RFF'er or other forumer) so you can handle the ZI before you spend your hard earned money. Either that or make sure you have an iron-clad guarantee that you can return it if you don't like it...
