New Zorki 4 Owner

the rf patch on the Zorki 4 is not the crisp rectangle found on the Leica M's, so that is normal.
use the diopter lever to adj. the vf to your eyesight.
I came close to guessing the year of your Zorki 4 form that pic.
actually I could just barely make out the year from the serial # on the lens, but the style of that Zorki 4 placed it from 1965 or older.

Thanks for that, I didn`t remember seeing a square patch before but couldn`t be sure, at least it`s OK .. I forgot about the Diopter, unique !!

Yeah, light leaks can happen around the back door. AFAIK, no Zorkis came with seals such as foam, thread, yak string, etc. However, some here have used this type material to help with leaks. It was designed to work without seals so I try to make sure the groove around the door and the door itself is very clean/smooth initially. I have no added materials in any of my "big body" Zorkis so far (knock on yak hide). However, on my Zorki.3 I get a leak on about 2-4 frames per [24exp] roll each time. So the challenge continues there and something will probably have to be added. Before applying foam or whatever, I will likely just try to make sure it has a nice smooth coating of paint in the seal area so that the back fits snug as was intended.

Congrats on the newskie! Great looking shooter you've got there; very straight indeed. Probably the original lens. My first Zorki.4 wasn't. Share some of those test shots when you get the time. Be patient/Have fun/Enjoy!

I`ll check the back slide edges and make sure its clean - the whole camera is looking good so far and looks all original complete with lens cap.. I doubt the lens has been off it until I removed it for cleaning out and testing on the R-D1..
I`ll run a roll of cheap film through first to make sure all is well - I can`t find my Weston-V so will have to use the Fuji F11 as a lightmeter (and a 35mm / 90mm finder when I make the Shoe/tripod adapter for it so I can mount it on camera ;-) ..

Will share when the first roll comes off the press 🙂
