It's funny, when I go for walks with my wife, I never come back with a shot like that. :)

when I go for walks with my wife I don't want to come back with a shot like that ...now if I was walking with her sister ;)

I can't believe this is the first time I have checked out this thread ... damn ... that first pic is good. I am a great admirer of the nude and that is superb. I guess the comments about the contrast etc are relevant but with composition like that ... technicalities fade into insignificance for me.

Nudes sadly ... are a little attention grabbing for obvious reasons at times ... but I missed the ultimate wowser's post and only see the responses.

He came ... he scoffed ... he left! :p

Me neither. I guess I have the wrong gear.

Must get a IIIa and a Summar!

BTW for a "snapshot" that's prety good.

Regarding the last shot, the forehead has no detail in the light parts. I hope this is just from the scan (or any post processing)? On the other hand, as already ointed out, the shots are so good -- who cares?

Me either--maybe some of our more literate members can help us with this term, but would you call her a fabled "Wood Nymph"?

Seriously, an incredible shot. Congrats!

Sanders,
You have shown what is known to many; it is the photographer and the light that "do the job",and you have done it extermely well here. I also had to make sure that this is your wife in all the shots because, like Roland said, I saw a different woman. Vintage equipment can be great when used well. If your wife had been fully clothed, I doubt it that you would have gotten a lesser critique.

Funny I dont either but then we havnt seen anyplace that we feel it would work.
On the other hand we (Mel and me) loved the photograph I think she would buy a copy and hang it on the wall she thought it was that beautifull. You are a very tallented man Ive tried to do nudes before and never got anything I liked.

Hey, we seem to have lost a member. Egbert Souze's first post here, the "old fart" response, has been withdrawn.:D

He has a great name though, taken no doubt from W.C. Field's inebriated character in the classic comedy, The Bank Dick: Egbert Souse!

I miss Edward Felcher, he made me laugh. Not sure why he was banned, I didn't find him in the least bit offensive.

"Egbert" may have had a point too, I mean, would this thread have > 1800 views so quickly if it didn't mention nudity in the title :)

Nice pictures, btw.

I'm not sure where to begin. Roland, Raid, all of you: I am flattered by all of your kind words. "Thank you" is a beginning, I suppose, so I'll start there.

iml: I consider myself a portraitist, and most of my studio work involves nudity. Because I do not know this site well, and because of the consternation nudity has caused in other sites, I put a warning in the subject header to warn people away from the thread if nudity offended them. I didn't mean to create a magnet for viewers, and I apologize if I've violated the expectations of the site in posting or drawing attention to a nude image.

The Leica still feels like a toy in my hands -- it is not my camera of choice. But I am finding that it gives me another way to see and to frame, that my Rolleiflexes do not, and that is an intriguing exploration for me. A more typical photograph for me (G-rated) looks like this:

743583457_2c9c0a6b1d_o.jpg

(Tele Rolleiflex)

I used to shoot a lot in 5x7. Until I got the Tele Rolleiflex last year, I shot the view camera exclusively. When I first looked at the first photo in this thread, my initial impulse was, "How much better this would have been in 5x7." But as I think about it, I'm no longer sure of that. There was a spontaneity shooting with the Leica, simply not possible with the view camera. My wife moved through a variety of positions. I was able to capture one when it was fresh and unforced. On reflection, the Leica deserves its due for allowing me to make this photograph. Which was why I thought it appropriate to post it here.

Sanders - no need for an apology, no offense taken and you did the right thing warning of the nude content. It's just a fact that mention of nudity attracts lots of viewers, but I wasn't implying that's why you did it :)

That's an excellent Rollei portrait.

where is the banned list? i have not found it yet.

egbert was edward re-registered.
edward was banned for writing an extremely offensive racist remark.

sanders,

to calm your concerns...there is not a ban on nudes here as long as they are not obviously porn (which we do get as spam on a regular basis here) and the warning is most appropriate as many view the site from work computers.
i am not usually a fan of nude in nature type shots but this one is stunning and so well done that it's difficult to not enjoy it.

I don't know, I've made no mention of a banned list, I think you're asking the wrong person that question.

edward was banned for writing an extremely offensive racist remark.
OK, I didn't see it but I take your word for it.

Hey Joe

Its under the mods name in the view forum leaders. It seems very uncomplete, but there a alot of names there. As I said 99% spam nicks.

i never noticed that before...live & learn!

the list looks incomplete because some names have been deleted instead of banned, when deleted they have been removed - when banned they still appear.
and yes, more than 99% are spammers.
