Hi guys

My friend was clearing out her house and was going to throw away all her dark room equipment until I grabbed it. I've got a complete set up including the enlarger.

I have a question about the enlarge as I know very very little about the dark room.

The enlarger is a Meopta Axomat Student. It looks in good condition but when I plug it in nothing happens, is there an on/off switch? Looking at the instruction manual there seems to be some sort of box with knobs and buttons on it which i didn't get with it, would that be a darkroom clock? do i need one to switch it on?.

Sorry I really don't know much about this stuff.

Any help would be great

Sam

Check the bulb. A special opal frosted bulb is used for enlargement, but not to test the enlarger. Any low to moderate watt bulb with a screw base should do.

One more question, where can i get a opal frosted bulb from?

Hi, aren't you going to need a timer anyway? You will want to reliably time exposures from a second or so, up to 30 or 60 seconds. When shopping for a bulb, try a low power version, the standard gives quite short exposures.

I hope you enjoy your darkroom kit.
