Greetings,

I know this a bit of newbie question so please bare with me.

On my new to me Canonet QL17 GIII, I noticed that the aperture selection for a given film speed under shutter priority doesn't seem to remotely match up with my DSLR or some of my other cameras.

As a basis - the room that I was in required the speed to be slowed to 1/4 just so that the aperture crossed the acceptable range of f1.7. My DSLR was pegged at 1/30 and yet the aperture was over f5+.

As another data point, my Olympus XA set at 2.8 aperture also had a film speed over 1/250+.

Is my camera in need of adjustment or is this just the nature of the beast?

My Canonets are all within spec. Check the battery voltage with a meter.

Off-hand, it sounds like the CDS cell has lost sensitivity, or the mechanism that masks the cell is off. It should be within a stop, even with a 1.5v battery.

Yes. All were shot at same ISO. Supposedly the camera was CLA'd with a 1.5v battery. Looks like that is not the case which is too bad. Sounds like I have a dud.
