I'm sure it's not very exciting to others, but finally after a few years of lurking around here I ordered an M6 and a 50 f2 summicron from KEH just a few minutes ago. Now I just have to wait for shipping :bang:
Anyway, I'm looking forward to posting images soon and, well, to be honest, have some people who know what they are talking about tear them apart, in a constructive manner of course!
Cheers!

Welcome,
look forward to seeing them, I see the floatplane and your username...are you from Alaska?

Excellent, many congrats - I love it whenever I read of a young person here having bought RF/film gear 😀 I look forward to seeing some results.

Haha... the alaska part, nope, just a wanna-be adventurer. I enjoy the outdoors here quite a bit in Washington, but all my Alaska connections are all through my readings.

My wife is a Nurse, she took a travel-nursing job to Ketchikan, AK a couple years back. Amazing place! We drove back to Texas via British Columbia, lost a transmission but had a hell of a time.

Great kit to start your Leica M experience. I have a couple M6 bodies (currently selling one) and use it daily with a 50/2 Summitar collapsible.

Uhhg! I'm still waiting for my email confirmation that they've shipped my rig. It's a good thing I'm young or this anxiety might kill me.

Welcome, and you may as well get use to "that" feeling, once the GAS hits, you either constantly have it - or contemplating what to hunt for next.. 😉

Got a call about an hour ago from someone at KEH confirming my order. Very impressive service. I'm glad so many of you guys recommend KEH here, or I might not have heard of them. KEH said the camera would be here tomorrow so I'm sure I'll have blown through a few rolls by the weekend.

In my experience anxiety hits the young harder than the old. I guess we get used to things not going right as we experience it more.

Oh, and getting a new camera is always exciting! You did get overnight shipping , didn't you? 😉

Well if anxiety goes down in the next few years; I'll be a happy camper. And, yes, OF COURSE, I got next day air shipping. I wouldn't be able to handle a whole week of waiting! I guess if I was really smart I would go out and get a filter for the lens and a few rolls of film today.

What size is the filter for a 50mm summicron f2 lens?
If you guys wanted to try out four or five different types of film, slide color & B&W; what would you get?

Well it came in the mail in time for the weekend! I'm so excited about it!

I shot a test roll of BW400CN when I was out with the guys last night. I've got a ways before I'm used to the camera (my first rangefinder), but it's been fun so far. I'm impressed with the sharpness of the lens, even though I'm staring at pictures developed at walgreens and off of their "picture CD".
So, no regrets so far and, when I have a few decent photos to post, you guys will be some of the first to see them.
All of these aren't probably very good "test" photos. They're shot at 1/30th at a gas station.

Sorry 'bout stringing out the thread, but I just picked up a few rolls developed from a little short weekend vacation in Cannon Beach with the friends before finals. I thought this shot turned out pretty alright. Shot on Kodak Portra 160NC. I'm kind of put off by the image quality. I had the negs developed at a local lab and they scanned me a CD at "high quality". Fortunately my father (more of an avid photog) picked up a good scanner and I'll have to bring over the negs to his house and rescan to see the difference.
