NewLab in San Francisco to Close

I haven't had any E6 processed at Marin Filmworks, but I take all my C41 (135 and 120) there, and aside from one scratched roll (about 9 months ago), they've done an excellent job with processing my film. I don't have them do prints or scans from rolls, but they've done excellent 8x12 prints from my full-size scan files and a couple 11x14s as well. I know Marin is out of the way for most of you (it's quite possible that I'm the only Marin-county RFF-er), but Marin Filmworks is a good lab if you're in the area. ;-) Friendly people too in my experience.

EDIT: maybe I should shoot some E6 just to help keep demand up?!?! Question is whether I have the chops to even expose a frame of E6 properly ... 🙁

Marin Filmworks in San Rafael still does e6 and b&w processing. 35mm and 120. Lots of folks who used to use New Lab have been coming in and are happy with our work.

i'm here is sausalito...i haven't been up to marin filmworks in a long while though.

i have a few photographer customers at my frame shop that use marin filmworks exclusively and they are happy. obviously i see a lot of the work they get done, and it always looks nice.

OK, an update to my previous post. The E6 does look great, but the BW is another story. The negs look like they were run through a machine and have 3 scratches running the length of the 36 exposure roll.

Very disappointing... I am going to give them a call tomorrow.

I used "The Darkroom" last week for some E6 and BW, both turned out great.

kdemas - I had a lab in Indy that was doing BW by hand (great!) except that they had one tech who didn't like the extra time in the drying cabinet so he was squeegee'ing the film strips. Scratch city.

Make noise, and make sure they're not doing anything dumb like that.

Aw dammit! I just started using film again and I had found Newlab when I was looking for reliable E6 processing when it comes time I return to the Bay Area after my teaching stint in Japan is done.

Scratch that, then.

not to hijack the thread, but which frame shop in Sausalito, bob? I was just down there on Saturday, doing some pinhole. next time i'm down there, i'll pop in and say "hi".

Drat, Mike...you found this thread. ;-) Was hoping it would fly under your radar so I wouldn't get called on my gaffe ...

I actually was in Marin Filmworks yesterday and talked briefly with Judy about this thread. Doesn't sound like they're in any danger of closing any time soon as business is pretty good for them still.

Dude, what am I, chopped liver?

The Artist Formerly Known As Chopped Liver has been happy with both slide and color developing from Marin Filmworks.
