I just bought an M2 on ebay. Seller claimed a recent CLA but the double image will not align beyond about five feet. When I try to focus on the moon there are 2 moons at infinity. It will align objects between 5 and 3 feet, but if at 3 feet distance the lens scale indicates 10 feet. When I look through the viewfinder without a lens and push on the cam the frame lines and the patch move in sync to the left but the moon is still a double image when the cam is bottomed out. Any advise on how to proceed would be appreciated!

Real Men Shoot Film.
Return it. If its off THAT much, it will likely need parts and be EXPENSIVE to fix.

That's way too far out of whack for a camera with a recent CLA. Return it.

The infinity adjustment is not difficult, but you'd be better off returning the camera.

That is pretty far off. I agree with the individuals above - return it.

Return it, if you can! Even if it have had CLA'd someone who did it is clearly not a professional. Who knows what else did he screw up in the camera.

Possibly what Roland means is, does the lens focus correctly on other bodies? We've all been assuming that the camera's R/F is off.

Return if you can. I had similar experience recently with M2, unfortunately a purchase from an RFF member. It was stated that camera had recent CLA by Youxin, but Youxin himself confirmed that he has never worked on the camera.
There were many problems and the RFF member just chose not to make things right at all and ignored my message.
See my signature where my M2 is now.

My M2 is still at Youxin's.
That sucks. I presume it's not done to disclose that member's name, but that hurts double.

I've been too busy to take any action yet, but I do not want to see that member selling stuff to other people with false claim. He was just plain careless and dishonest. I don't know what's the best and still civilized approach to this kind of case. Just leave negative feedback here? Don't no...
Guess what? He had good evilbay feedback, but no feedback here. (I knew he has sold another camera, M4-P or M4-2 I believe, here prior to my purchase.)
So the lesson is that evilbay is evilbay, I do not trust feedback there. I don't buy any major camera stuff there anymore. I try to buy all camera stuff from RFF members with good feedback HERE.
Tugboat, sorry to hijack the thread a bit. Let me just say this, again: Evilbay is Evil.

I recently bought a Safrotto camera bag on Ebay. The bag is a copy of a Domke bag. It looked good and seemed like it would work for my upcoming trip to Argentina, offering far more security than the Lowepro backpack I had.
The bag arrived soon after I bought it but it smelled like a smokestack. I am not a smoker and the smell was quite offensive to me. I left Neutral feedback, stating both a positive (it was shipped quickly) and a negative (it smelled like a smokestack). I got a note from the seller telling me that leaving the feedback was "just plain nasty" and demanding that I remove it. I wrote him back and told him that the feedback was honest and that I was not going to remove it or change it..
I'm wondering if any feedback was altered in response to demands by sellers such as the demand I received.

Thanks to all for your advice. I notified the seller just now to expect a return. The lens is a Voigt Noct 35mm 1.4 it focuses accurately on an M3. I took it to a camera repair shop today and technician told me he has never seen a rangefinder that far off.
