Hi All,
Has anybody here with a Nex-3 used the flash and 16mm lens together? How well does that little flash work with this combo? Does it cover to the edges?
Got an example you can post?
I am thinking of gettiing a 16mm and this is good info to know.
Usuable with the Nex-3 and flash?
Thanks!

Ok question answered. Looks like it dosen't cover the edges completely.
One guy is using a ping pong ball as a flash diffuser. Exactly what I wanted to know.
This mirrors my experience with wide lenses and flash, learned very well from my wedding days with Hasselblads and Vivitar 283's.
It really benefits from a diffuser. Need to go shopping for a ping pong ball

Hello:
Has anyone, op or other, tried a slave flash tutored to ignore the preflash? The mecablitz 28 CS-2 digital comes to mind.
I'll also look for a dead ping pong ball.

The flash doesn't see a lot of use on my NEX-3, but in those cases where I did use it with the 16mm, I didn't notice any strong light fall-off from the flash near the corners of the frame. The light fall-off that I do see is not any different from the lens alone at wide apertures (as in attachment). It's only with the fisheye adapter (it's about 0.6x) on the 16mm that the flash struggles to reach the corners.Ok question answered. Looks like it dosen't cover the edges completely.
That said, I haven't tried to set up shots to rigorously test the light fall-off of the flash, so it's entirely possible that I'll be unpleasantly surprised somewhere in the future..
No, but I've used the SB-800 in SU-4 mode, and as long as I keep the SB-800 under 1/2 its maximum output power, it's got enough oomph to keep up with both the pre-flash and flash.. Just eats through the rechargeables at twice the rate.Has anyone, op or other, tried a slave flash tutored to ignore the preflash? The mecablitz 28 CS-2 digital comes to mind.
