I am shooting with a new NEX 5N also. So far I like the IQ and really like the implementation of the MF peaking assist. I use a Hoodman shade in the bright sun and for video (I much prefer an external LCD to any kind of OVF or EVF when it comes to shooting video). It's a $15 solution, but obviously isn't for everyone.
It seems to me that the need for a hood makes this camera large and somewhat awkward.. so what is the point?
The NEX7 is on display at the Javits Center in NYC today (per a friend). Once I go on Saturday, I'll see if I can find out info about release dates and what not.

There are various folding hoods now for these cameras that effectively make eye-level viewing easy and the basic design offers the best of both worlds,....Sony (always a rotten company for business ethics) will not offer these because they want you to buy the pricey evf unit,..but the basic camera and hood works very well and is compact.
No fuji 'poserflex' is not going to offer anything like the facility for the price, indeed it's likely to be TWICE the price!! (on previous showing anyway)
....Hopefully, someone else other than Sony will now see the huge facility of the NEX basic design for serious photographers who want and need to use whatever lenses they like without expensive accessories etc.

So far I haven't had much difficulty framing and shooting with the LCD even in bright sun. For those occasions where I may, or when I am shooting video, the Hoodman provides a much more cost effective alternative to acquiring either the EVF or a NEX 7. As I said, this solution is not for everyone.

I LOVE my 5N. Some shots with Voigtlander 35mm F1.2 lens. Shooting moving people up close with a manual focus super shallow depth of field lens was a challenge. Peaking Rules!

Another take of 5N using kit lens for snapshot ... the sky ...
I went to a wedding in UK for 3 day 2 night (plus 2 night on the plan from HK to UK). The sky was great on the night and as it is digital, why not handhold take a snapshot of the sky ... not the astrophoto you expect but as a snapshot goes, it is ok. I even told the story of Chinese legend of cowboy and weaving girl use the back screen of the Nex5 to show the stars involved - Vega, Altair (and his two boys) and Congus ...
