isn't there a way to set an exposure value even without one of the dedicated lenses matching the one selected on the lens and then use it that way? I think I did something like that when using an FD lens on a Canon Rebel, but I might be mistaken with shutter priority.

does the live view help when setting exposure? my LX3 for instance only shows the balanced image and the metering, the GX100 does it better, besides the metering the image itself goes darker or brighter according to the exposure, allowing an instant preview.

I regret it so much that I haven't tried a NEX5 when in NYC 2 weeks ago :/ now i'm really curious about it!

thought of it with a canon 50/0.95 mounted. in this case, i think the camera will mount the lens hehe

but yeah it's getting really interesting, the body can go in one pocket and the lens in another, no need for a bag and it's as low profile as it gets. also being able to make videos @f1.4 on full hd is really tempting, even though i barely use my compacts to make videos.
 
Waiting patiently for some sample shots using the 28mm m-rokkor, the only 28 that I own, before taking the plunge on this little amazing digicam.

in S mode, with a manual lens, it just uses whatever light it gets, then auto-isos keeping your set S used ?? So no exif info. for aperture, fl, etc., but should meter ??

Is the very top shot using the pano swinging motion? What file sizes are those pano files?

Maybe that explains the wii strap 😉

I'm impressed at the lack of vignetting with the elmarit 28mm. On the r-d1 it has moderate fall off, with the same size sensor. I am curious how it would perform with the CV 15/4.5, and how that compares to the 16/2.8 package lens.

How hard is it to accurately manual focus off the screen?
 
I use the nex in S mode when using the Rayqual adaptor. This allows me to set the shutterspeed... and obviously I can adjust the aperture on the lens itself. I meter visually using the screen and live histogram. It is quite accurate, focusing is also quite reliable off screen, to fine tune hit the MF assist button and voila.. done. Using rangefinder glass is quite quick and easy.
If you turn on auto iso while in S mode, the camera will auto meter and adjust the ISO to keep the same setting. ie.. you can be at F2.8 for example, and move shutter speed from 1/30 - 1/200 and the camera will bump up the iso and keep the same exposure.
There may be a better way to shoot with rf glass mounted, but I haven't had a chance to find it yet, photos taken were first day with the set up.

The horizontal and vertical pano's were taken in camera. The WII strap came in very handy... could not find a good wrist strap anywhere... and its quite secure. Wouldn't mind a black nex-5 and black wii strap 😉

I think a CZ 35/2 would match up nicely to it.. in chrome

One quick question on mf ergonomics - are holding the camera at arms length or up close to the eye? I was playing with the a GF1 and trying to manually focus and it just seemed awkward to me. I did only give it a few minutes though.

Took awhile to get used to it, kind of half arms length.. and also a fair bit of waist level shooting.
 
The images look great and liking the 1.5x crop factor compared to 2.0x micro 4/3. Oh Sony, could you please quit playing with funky design and put the sensor and the mount to "regular" body with EVF? I'll switch from E-PL1 although I'm not a big fan of Sony as company. 😛

Mimaki, I shoot with Contax G lenses using Aperture preferred with the body set on "no lenses". This was how I was told to shoot with the adapter and I can verify it works. I set the aperture the camera sets the shutter speed and the lower soft button allows me to manual focus at 7x or 14x.
 
I handled one this afternoon with the kit zoom lens mounted. It felt very comfortable to me, but I have formerly owned a Sony F717 with a similar form factor. Unfortunately the batteries were not charged so I could not check the screen brightness or the menu and control ergonomics.

Is shutter lag an issue?

Yes, the LCD will 'gain' up automatically. It can get a bit grainy in low light (a lot grainy in very low light) but if there is enough light to shoot there is enough light to focus. Otherwise you'll need to use the flash and an AF lens, and the AF assist LED will determine focus.
