Nicaragua

I have been inspired by the great responses I read in the "Travel to India" thread to post my own about my upcoming trip to Nicaragua. I will be visiting a cousin in San Juan del Sur. I plan to do a lot of exploring within a days drive and hit the road for a 3 or 4 night trip likely in the Granada or Leon areas. I would love to hear about your personal experiences traveling in these parts of Nicaragua.

I've been there twice, but 35+ years ago. It is a very colonial type country, versus Costa Rica, Panama' and parts of Mexico which are very Americanized. They probably would not like to hear that but that is my feeling. Here are some photos from around Managua in the early 70s:

I am sure that would be real interesting.. A lot of good spots and just stories about the place.
