One thing that Leica never did on its LTM models is improve the film loading charateristics, even on the improved IIIg.
Nicca did try a modifed approach to the Barnack film loading system for easier access.
This Type 5 Nicca , which I bought in 1988, was their first attempt, and it works very well.

I have the Tower 45/46 version, also known as the Nicca 5L, with the lever advance instead of the knob. You are correct. The loading is greatly improved over the traditional bottom loader. Very nice camera and not easy to find.

Yes these Niccas are very nice cameras, the type 5 is much harder to find than the Tower 45/46 (Nicca 5L).
The back on the type 5 swings like a house door , but on the Tower45/46(Nicca5L) the back is more like what is on the M Leica.
Incidently, the really rare version of the Nicca type 5 are the ones sold in Australia under the Snider label.

Tower 35 or tower48?

Tower 35 or tower48?

Can anyone please help me to identify this camera! I got it about 6 months ago and I tried to search for the exact model but I found that it doesn't match any description.
It has no hinge back.
It has no diopter adjustment level.
Thanks

it looks like a Tower 48, which is a Nicca 3-F lever wind.
