I bought one and made the modifications (5 minutes with a file) and am now awaiting a modified retaining ring p/n 11251 that will act as a step ring to accept standard 39mm filters mounted on the lens.

The tiny 28/3.5 CV thread mount would qualify, too, as a compact M8 walkabout lens. It would give a 37mm equivalent, just right for those who prefer a wide-normal as a walkabout lens.

I concur with the 28/3.5 which is an excellent lens. I also use a Leica 28/2.8-asph which is now pretty much my body cap.
