10 EUR is especially less considering their partially ridiculously overblown prices. Can't speak about their reliability as it never came to a transaction with them. All I can say that their, or his communication style, when you "ask seller a question" at ebay, is rather rude and arrogant. In the kind of "Our goods are all first quality, buy it or get lost".

If you are looking for really friendly, reliable and communicative Leica sellers with a large choice of used gear, and prices significantly closer to reality check out Leicashop (Austria) or Ritzcam (USA).

Jaap,

Looking at your signature one may believe you already have the Biogon... 😉
It's true their prices for new Zeiss gear are a very little more "reasonable" than for used rangefinder gear.

The communication style may be depending on many factors. Once you're decided to buy, every seller gets corteous. But their descriptions on ebay are very short and meaningless, compared to the huge and boring text with all their conditions. I just wanted to know more about an old black Nikon SP they offered, rangefinder accuracy and so on, and got a rather rude answer in the meaning like I mentioned.

Nevertheless I hope you'll have fun with your biogon, though I'd have recommended Robert White which has it in stock for £725 with hood (EUR1080) compared to Arsenall/SHphoto who wants EUR1280 w/hood - both prices excl. VAT.

A friend of mine had a problem with a Kiev 88 body from Photo Arsenal (=SHPhoto). It was one of the early mirror lockup versions, and at slow speeds and on "B" the second shutter curtain would hang randomly. He gave it to me when I went to Ukraine so that I could pass it to Arax for repairs. Gevorg at Arax didn't quite get the mechanism right and sought out the technician who had installed the MLU in the mid-1990s. The technician said this particular body was part of an early 0-series of ten bodies where they tried out different MLU mechanisms. He even remembered selling the body to Photo Arsenal (I hadn't mentioned them) and swore that Photo Arsenal had been told told that this mechanism had problems and that it should only be sold with an approproate warning. However, Arsenal just sold it on without any warning whatsoever. In the end, we had Arax tear out the broken mechanism and install a later version that is more reliable. From that experience I would be a bit hesitant with them, at least when it concerns Eastern European gear and/or rare early versions of anything.

I have bought some 6x6 stuff from Arsenal.... man what to say, descriptions didn't match the product, return policy non existant, rude replies by mail and phone..... personally would never ever buy from them again.

This is accurate as is the comment above about the incredibly short and obtuse descriptions on eBay. I once wrote to them asking for the meaning of their chosen words and was ignored. So you just pass on. Plenty of other dealers to give your money to.

Err.. I paid considerably less than 1000 Euro....including VAT.I've done business with Robert White as well. I can only recommend him, but in this case I got a better deal for a demo. Yes, I put it in my signature. I'll remove it and make appropriate noise if it doesn't show up 😉 But somehow I doubt that will happen. But thank you for your concern 🙂

Order:

1,000 of Hasselblad keyrings in the 'Hasselblad Boutigue' @ €5 each = €5,000

Less discount (ref. RFF) €10 per item = €10,000

To pay SHPhoto to Jon Claremont €5000

I had one experience with SHphoto .. and it was the last one!
The lens arrived in the end .. it was a new 21 Biogon .. nothing wrong with it.
BUT ... they do not communicate .. do not respond to emails .... etc.
A very stressful experience i will never ever go through again!

I can only say - I ordered, telephoned them to slightly change the order - the lens arrived very fast, perfectly packed and exactly as described. And they were friendly and polite on the telephone.

Good experience for me from SHPhoto.

I bought from them a Lux 35 preasph. and then exchanged it for the Lux 50 Asph. They even rung me back to confirm the address. Both times the lenses arrived within three days or so (from Germany to the UK), insured shipping incl. and tracking number provided. English is not their strong point but somehow we communicated through a maelstrom of (my) Greek and (their) German accent.
