Here is a link to a very nice rope strap on ebay. The quality is very good and the price is more than fair.
I think the principal advantage of a rope strap is that you can wear the camera bandolier like underneath a jacket and swing it up to shoot without binding.

I have two of these, one is the $1 cheaper model and the other as in the link.
I asked the supplier to make the linked model with black leather which he did for the same price. These "blackish green" straps are very flexible, so they can easily be tied in a knot to shorten it if needed. I don't know if the other colors of rope are as flexible as the " blackish green". Communication with the seller very good. Shipment to the west coast was about 2 weeks .
Packing was also very good and it included enigmatically, a guitar pick. As a guitarist this was an unexpected surprise.
