I thought of posting this on the "Waiting for the mail" thread, but decided on a separate post instead.

I just won a first edition of DDD's landmark "War Without Heroes" on the bay for, what, 50 bucks. And guess what - I am more excited about getting it than the gear I am expecting in this week's mail. 🙂

This past week, I have been consumed with looking for photo books and monographs for a modest collection I have decided to build. Nothing fancy, just some books that I think I will enjoy. I just now realized that this may be quite an enjoyable way to stay away from buying gear without "withdrawal." 😉 You see, I have never been good at quitting anything "cold turkey."

Who knows, this may even help improve the quality of my photography more than another new piece of gear.

I wish they'd reprint "The Decisive Moment." I borrowed it last summer from the public library - I read it so gingerly after they told me it would cost me $3,000 to replace it if it got lost or damaged.
