Just picked up a type 3 , no lens . I have yet to find a Nippon like the one's supplied with them . So what would be your next choice.
Canon, Leitz, Braun , these are just some I have come across, not really familiar with a lot of these as far as image quality.

A Nikkor 50/1.4 or 50/2, of course

a Nikkor 5cm f2 lens was the lens with that camera.
a few early ones had collapsable Nikkor f2, but the rigid Nikkor f2 lens was fitted later on.
the faster Nikkor 5cm f1.4 lens was also sold with the Nicca/Tower Type 3 camera.

A coated collapsible Summitar would be my choice. They are farily easy to buy and often sell for under $200 in good usable condition (and sometimes for as little as $150 if you're very patient). When collapsed the camera is extremely compact and portable. The optical quaility of the Summitar is very, very good as well. It also looks great.

Did you say Nippon Kogaku
Most of them were sold with the f2.0s, being a budget camera at the time, very few were sold with F1.4s
There are plenty Nikkor screw-mount F2.0s out there...

The Nikkor 50/2 is a wonderful lens. If you are looking for a period substitute a chrome Canon 50/1.8 is a good option.

Ideally I would like one of the Nippon or Nikkor's that they offered. I do have a Canon III, IIF and a VT so I can use one of the 50 1.8's on it till I locate another type . I will need new shutter curtains and the slow speeds are not working , Do I just send it to DAG or is there someone else that is good .
Thanks everone for your help, and if you know if someone has a Nikkor they want to part with that is clean , drop me a line .

Fred,
yours seems to have a collapsible which is rare
most of them came with the garden variety(rigid) f2.0s
Bob Rotoloni suggests about 30% of the total production of the Nikkor-H 5cm F2.0 was in Screw-mount. That could mean about 30,000 out of the 100,000 lenses...
I wonder how many were collapsible?

You might try a Russian lens. The 50mm 2.8 LD is a nice one or the 3.5 copy of the elmar looks good to.
