I have one and couldn't be more pleased. Like your findings it performs very well on digital as well as film.

A wonderful lens and, unlike most Nikon AIS zooms, is two ring. That keeps it from developing the frustrating zoom/focus creep. This lens and an 80-200 make a great good-light kit.

I finally figured out how to post pics although not that large HMM.
I recently pulled my worn and battered 25-50mm f/4 from a dusty shelf and used it on a small corporate gig with the D4s and I was seriously impressed yet again with this lens. Sharp with wonderfully clear and clean color, low distortion and compared to most AF Nikons is was quite light and manageable. I wish I had a more pristine copy but mine keeps chugging along..

Still a great lens on digital. I missing being able to carry it and my D700 around... oh the days of only have 1 child!
