I agree to some extent. Hacking lenses into a new mount and losing compatibility with its intended system is not ideal. Many nice Leica compatible lenses have been lost to cine lens conversions, with prices for the remaining lenses reaching astronomical heights as a consequence.
To the OP, think Ruhrlensworkx are legit, they are good at their job and can probably help you do a permanent conversion, as Skyllaney in Scotland can.
But in case of the Nikkor 3.5 1.8 the modification can be done without losing the compatibility with the Nikon rangefinder system!
Park Sangin in Korea produces replacement fittings for the rear elements of the lens, which reduce the thickness of the collar around the rearmost element such that it does fit a Leica without touching the rangefinder coupling arm. This is reversible.
What you do need for this to work is a quality Nikon S to Leica Adapter, such as the Amedeo adapter.
Mr. Sangin runs a business servicing rare vintage lenses, so it seems he knows what he's doing. From a conversation I've had with someone who did this modification I know that you can buy these rings separately from the maker and do the conversion yourself, or have someone closer to you do it. At least he used to sell them separately back then.
See this blog post for further details on how it works. The blog itself is very interesting, it contains a lot of knowledge on vintage lenses and example photos (Tip: use the translation feature of your Chrome or Safari browser):
W-Nikkor 3.5cm F1.8 Compatible S-mount for Nikon S & Leica M (Reversible).
You can also see this conversion here:

Maybe write him a message on Instagram and ask if you can buy a conversion kit. Amedeo adapters are rare but they pop up here and there. He does have them on eBay every once in a while. Or at cameraquest.com if you're lucky (might need expensive shipping depending on your location).
