Just using nikkor 35/2.5 LTM lens with L39-M converting ring on r-d1s, here is the trial shots at night.

A little question: the lens is not coupled from 6 feet to 3.5 feet, though I changed 2 converting rings (1 is 35mm, 2nd for 50mm lens). But from 7feet above, it is coupled again. The above pics are taken at about 8 feet, f2.8, iso1600, 1/15, it seems right on focus.

I wonder whether this is normal for thread lens? Anyone sharing experience?

It's not normal for LTM lenses in general. If this is the only lens you have, perhaps the problem is the camera. Remove the lens and control the focusing distance with your finger. If it goes from close focus to infinity and back, then the problem should be the lens.

I tried with other m lenses, such as 40, 28, 21, they are right on focus from 1m. I don' t think there is any problem with the camera. I doubt the L39-M adapter is not good.

This is my lens:

There is a notch in the lens' screw mount (1). This has to match the 12 o'clock position of the LTM adapter (2). In your case notch and adapter don't match. Try a Voigtlander (type1) or original Leica LTM adapter.

Good luck,

Roland.
