Nikkor 50mm f/1.4 repair question

I have a 50mm f/1.4 Nikon Nikkor SLR lens.. (yea....I know..not a rf lens). I need to remove the front element group for cleaning and was wondering if someone could help me.

There is a set screw that holds the front filter ring on. You need to remove it, then the front ring comes off. (I forget if you have to set to close focus to uncover it) The front module then comes out with a spanner or rubber grommet.

That's the problem. The set screw barely shows at close focus. Not quiet enough to unscrew it.

The lens has to be really crudded up to have any noticeable effect on your pictures. You might be best off leaving just it alone.
