Hello...
Does anyone know where I could get a 50mm HC lens altered to ai so I can use it on on a nikon fm2 or f2a (don't think it will work with the head thats on this f2a that I've borrowed)?
I'm in London, UK..
I have a really beaten up old version of that lens that someone gave me, wondered about trying it out, I read it's really good..
Thank you very much for any advice.

The other option is to get an earlier Nikon camera body (or pro level body) that will accept non-AI lenses.

The F2a is a Nikon body that I don;t have so I'm not certain how it works.
On the F3, you can fold the auto-indexing tab (on the camra lens mount at about 2 o'clock) out of the way so that the non-AI lens can mount. Metering is then done in stop down mode.
A Nikon F with meter head, and Nikkormats FTn, FT2 will meter using the meter tab (ears) on the non-AI lens.

The F2a allows you to push up the AI coupling and use stop down metering. The little switch on the front of the DP-11 and DP-12 finder allow the Ai coupling to be dropped back into place after done with the non-AI lens.
