Nikkor enlarger lens: new vs. old

I have been offered an old design Nikkor EL 80 5.6. Will be its optical quality comparable to the modern item?. I know older lenses can be very good, but I don't know if this is true also about enlarger lenses: I have used a modern Nikkor and found it excellent. In contrast, an old componon (60s vintage), also a reputed lens is softer than a modern meopta anaret (four elements). I will appreciate any first hand data about this lens. The Nikkor EL 80 used to be wonderful.
I used it in the 90s in the college darkroom and produced some of the most beautiful enlargements I have ever made.

I buyed a nikkor too last month and I had the same doubt.
I don't have the internet reference now but the only difference is performance wide open.
