Nikkor rubber bands

What do you do when the rubber band on your old Nikkor lens dries out and needs replacement?
Any source for replacements? even not original...

I don't have any SLR-Nikkors, but if I'd encounter such an issue, and the rubber band is not completely fallen off, I guess that the «cable tie» idea is quite a good workaround:
