Is it Nikon S-mount? Black or chrome? Just curious.

The lens is Nikon S mount (internal) and what makes it even more interesting is that it is chrome! All reports handed to me from my Nikon sources say that it should be black going by the serial number , there is much confusion over the 46mm thread.

If you post a picture or email me one, I'll get to the bottom of this!
I got access to Mr. Nikon ;) :D

Serial number is in the Nikon F 50mm F1.4 range. I wonder if this was a custom job, moving the optics from a Nikon F 50mm lens to an Internal Mount. Nikon SP-X Prototype lens???

Looking at the optics block of the Nikkor-H 50mm F2, I wonder if it would fit into a helios-103 internal mount...

OK,
while we wait in agony, I thought we should get back to subject!
Here is one I use to own, bought it from a fellow RFF'er(where is Dan?), and sold it to another RFF'er in Korea:

What so special with 4's?
It's just a Chinese (and to a lesser extent Japanese) lucky number thing ;) In Chinese, the number "4" is pronounced the same way as "death" (the intonation is different) so its considered unlucky when there is a "4" in a number, especially so when its at the end of the number. The flipside is the number "8" which has the same pronounciation as "prosper". When you get a few 8's in a row .... WOW  But of course, if you're not Chinese, it doesn't matter :)

Still no 200*** lenses?

You're being awfully impatient!

We haven't seen any early body numbers yet, have we?

I believe there are lenses with 200 prefix,we shall see.

S3 2000 numbers go as high as 213***, but there's only 8,000 of them. Nikon trashed most of the early top plates!

Maybe we should start an S3 2000 body s/n registry?! :D
