There are two versions: Leica screw mount (or LTM) and Nikon S-mount.
The Leica screw mount version can be mounted on the M8 using a simple screw mount to M-mount adapter.
The Nikon S-mount version can be mounted on an M8 using an S-mount to LTM (+ screw mount to M-mount adapter) Orion type or adapter, or S-mount to M-mount Orion type adapter.
The first option is easier to find the adapter and cheaper.

Thanks. But how will I know which mount?
Does Nikkor-S.C point to an S-mount?

This is a Nikon S-mount (bayonet mount) Nikkor-S 50mm f1.4. A Leica screw mount (LTM) lens will have a thread. I'm assuming that since you have an M8 you know what a Leica screw mount looks like.
The S.C. on the front of the lens indicates 7 elements (the S) and single-coated (the red C). Nothing to do with what mount the lens is.

This is how the LTM lens looks (in this case a very early sample):
This is how it looks on an M film body, the M8 is no different:
When you get an LTM/M adapter for it, I warmly recommend an original Leica one. It's a bit more expensive, but you will avoid focus errors.
Best,
Roland.

Are focusing problems common with the Voigtlander and off-brand adapters?

For this lens particularly I found the adapter critical. It has very long throw, almost 270 degrees (including the close-up range).

Reg. the 35, I was lucky; another RFF member (thanks Mark!) passed it on to me for a reasonable price.
Anything around US 800-900 is reasonable for a good user copy. Not too different from a Summicron v1, a comparable lens, IMO. Watch for element separation.

None at all for the Voigtlanders. I have quite a few adapters.
