Description I copied from Amazon:

"The zinc/air composition of the WeinCell delivers the same precise voltage with steady, constant output identical to that of the mercury batteries (alkaline replacements are generally 1.5 volts, with an unstable output curve; this can result in exposure errors of up to 2 stops)."

I did check the instruction book and mine uses the 1.3 volt battery; however I have been using the 1.5 volt battery for years.

If you've tried Wein cells you'll know they are costly and unsatisfactory.
They have a very short useful life once activated and are unreliable.

I think I will stick with my current (like the pun) battery, Varta. I bought a couple from Freestyle and have one left. They are the 1.5 volt and seem to work fine.

Bought this FT2 for $15, and it works perfectly.
Kinda crazy that you can get such a great camera for the price of one drink at an LA bar...

The Nikkormat used the now banned 1.35V 625 mercury cell....

Not accurate.

There were 8 different "Nikkormats" and their batteries varied:

• FS - no meter, no battery
• FT - PX13 or PX625
• FTn - PX13 or PX625
• FT2 - S76
• FT3 - S76
• EL - PX28
• ELW - PX28
• EL2 - PX28

Only the FT and FTn used mercury batteries. The newer FT2, FT3, and the 3 EL variants all used silver oxide batteries.
