Nikon 1 = small sensor crap?

Lynn, nice pick up, got mine for $280 with both kit lenses. Never use the 30-110 much really, got myself a LTM adapter, now that is real fun for a gear head like me. Somewhere here on RFF i have some pics done with the J8 and others. Was going to sell the set pretty quickly on the bay, but still on my desk as we speak. Have fun is an awesome little cam.

This one was from Day one with the V1. I got one of the cheap white ones from DigitalRev.

Sensor size does matter.
That is a fact.

But if you are happy with the images you get with the Nikon, then enjoy it.

One of my most favorite cameras is Ricoh GRD IV and its sensor is tiny. But I'd be lying if I said I won't take a Ricoh GR instead for the same price.

Thank you for the link to your tests, Kent. The Schneider seems to be a very sharp lens.

I started a thread about the P7700 in Advanced Compacts one evening. About three comments later, someone was making a crack about with it's small sensor, the thread needed to be in Point and Shoot. Next thing I know is some Moderator flings it over there, so I deleted it.

You can't have a good gear discussion around here without some smart ass pooh-poohing your sensor size. I say enjoy your V-1, get all you can out of it. A camera is for shooting photos, not advertising your manhood.

A lot of people really don't seem to baser stand technology moves forward. Small sensors cameras can e very good if they understand limitations such as iso limitations for example. The lx3 from Panasonic was the first small sensor camera that I went wow u can get an image like this from this sensor and that was a while back.

The rx100 from Sony showed what a slight jump in sensor size can do. The Nikon sensor is not from Sony, but it has other tricks that built into it that are just as impressive.
