I have a J 1 and several lenses. I am constantly amazed at the images that it produces. Fortunately I purchased several lenses, new, after I acquired the basic kit. I saw someone was wondering about firmware. Checking Nikon's site an update was available several years ago. Seems like only one was put out.

I shot some trains with my 1 J3. This was with the FT1 adapter and a 35mm/f1.8 AFS DX lens.
