Nikon 35ti works indoors not outdoors?

I'm just putting a test roll of film through the my Nikon 35ti and I can't get it to fire outside. It works fine indoors when it uses flash. Takes the picture, advances film perfectly. However, when I try to take a shot outside it just makes a bunch of noise and doesn't advance the film (and the frame count doesn't increase). Does anyone have any suggestions as to why this happens? I'm making sure that it the shutter speed isn't too high or too low (doesn't say hi or lo in the viewfinder). Am I forgetting to do something? If its not me than is there someone you would recommend to service this? I'm located in Canada.

Thanks,
Chris

Nikon 35Ti film advance/shutter issue

Hi Chris.

I wanted to check and see if you found a solution to your 35Ti problem. I have exactly the same problem with mine. After a good bit of frustration and trying different settings, I found an imperfect workaround: I set the camera in aperture priority at f/2.8, and the shutter will fire and the film advances. Any other f stop, and it doesn't work. I don't know if it's a software issue peculiar to just my camera, or if it might be model-wide.

Of course, if you you want to use any other f stop, it's not a fix...just enough to keep it from being a paperweight.

Cheers, Brad
