I forgot to mention in an earlier thread that I had solved a breakdown with this scanner.
On turning on she would make usual noises but then the light would flash quickly and stay doing so.
Well on opening her up I discovered that the coupling between the drive motor shaft and the main screw thread shaft was loose. The motor shaft and coupling span with my fingers yet the main shaft remained still. The two key nuts had come loose holding the shaft onto the coupling. Simply tightening the two screws solved the problem. I removed cleaned and relubricated the two guide shafts as well, all easy. After reassembling her, she fired up like new.
So if anyone out there has this symptom, this is the fix. Hop I have helped some of you.

Good tip. Congrats on being able to fix things with simple adjustments and tightening before the parts got damaged.
