Hi gang, I have a few old nikkor AI, Ai'ed lenses that in need of some work. Some of the focus ring is turning loose and some is getting pretty tight, same thing to the aperture ring. This might be caused by lack of use (stored in the cabinet for 10 years or so...). Is it an easy DIY job ? The CLA of lens seems to be $30-50 per lens if I send them to pro shops
Which way should I go? Would love to hear from you guys.
Thank you.

Send it in. Well worth the $30-50.
Do it piecemeal, that way it will hurt your wallet less. Obviously the most used ones should go first.

Like Harry said, send it in. It is not a DIY job. I'd suggest sending them in all together and getting it over - once and for all... or at least the next decade.

I would love to know who can seriously handle a Nikon lens CLA for 30$ ??

Unless we're talking about old three and four element lenses, it is never an easy DIY job. Some lenses can't be fixed outside of a fully set-up shop. Send it to the pro shop.

Thank you all. I thought it would be an easy job... well, it "looks" simple to me. I guess I am wrong.
I am going to give Eddy a try. He has done amazing job for me in the past. I will keep you guys posted.
