Hi folks,
I've been using my scanner since '10 and it served me well.
However, recently it's developed a problem, in details:
- when turning on the machine, Nikon Scan shows this message. I ignore and continue to use it.
- after that, when I use adapter SA-21 to scan a batch of 6 frames, only first strip is successful. When loaded the second one, Nikon Scan shows this message.
I have to turn off and turn on the scan again, then it will repeat the whole similar processes above. Really annoyed as time consumed a lot more.
So, the question is:
- is it fixable and how complicated is it?
Cheers!

update:
today I decided to clean my Nikon Coolscan IV following instruction here .
in fact, you can follow another instruction here for CS5000
guess what?
the errors are cleared and the output is a little bit sharper.
for some reasons I dont know, the exposure is calculated a little bit different (darker in this case)

Hi, looks like the clean certainly improved sharpness. I tempted to clean mine but the procedure looks a bit difficult. Did you encounter any problems?
Thanks
Alex

The only issue is to install the mirror back to its position.
You have to be patient
