A week ago I took my Nikon D700 with the (excellent) zoom lens, a Tamron 35-80 SP to Joe Patti's Seafood outlet in Pensacola. It was a morning with dense fog. Here is what I managed to get in 35 minutes, from 7:15AM-7:50AM.

Some images came out not focused correctly by me. Oh well. It happens. The focus assist green light got fooled by the very low contrast due to the dense fog.

Thank you Tim. I drove carefully though the fog.!
By the way, can you see the Pelican in the first image? It is flying on the right third.

I wish I had been there!

Dear Raid,

I really enjoyed these. They remind of a place and time and people that I will never forget. I was stationed at Eglin AFB in the early 1980's and your pictures remind me of that time.

A long time ago if you had ventured out to take these pictures, you might have caught a glimpse of a phantom fisherman. That might have been me back then. Mornings like this one brought many seatrout and redfish to hand.

Thanks for sharing.

Regards,

Thank you for your personal story, Tim. This place grows on you after living here for a while.

Well done Raid these are very nice images. I have recently discovered the value of Tamron lenses having bought a Tamron AF SP 90mm f2.8 macro lens. Mine is an older version AF (screw drive) and was cheap, cheap, cheap. But boy does it perform. I must put some pictures up soon.

Many years ago I gifted my parents with a Tamron 35-80 zoom lens attached to a new Nikon FG. They hung it from a peg in the coat closet of their water-front house on Puget Sound... After a few years both lens and camera had been thoroughly ruined by the salty humidity. :( My Dad's older Olympus Pen FT survived...

Hi Peter. My favorite macro lens is a manual focus Tamron 90/2.5. Come to think of it, I could’ve used it with the D700.

Was the PEN FT better sealed? I have an FT. Humidity can lead to corrosion.
This zoom is very well built and it is very sharp. I usually favor prime lenses over zooms, but this zoom is a really good option.
