well i bought a nikon f3 hp, multiple finders and focusing screens, winder, nikon 105 f2.5, zeiss jenna 28mm f2.8, 2 x nikon 50mm f1.8 ai-s, minolta rokkor-qe 100mm f3.5, rokkor-pf 55mm f2 and a NIKON FM T (brand new, never seen a roll of film) for $350?!?!? man i like digital!
anyhow, the f3hp is stuck on self timer. i have done a bit of "pokin about" and think it's heading for the shop however i thought i'd run it by the experts here? anyone had this "issue" with the f3?
any help is always appreciated!
ps. anyone wants to pay post on the rokkors they can have em. first "i'm in" get's them. i am just outside of toronto and by experience shipping pretty much anywhere in N.A. will be less than $15

great deal!
never had this problem, but stupid question re: self timer, you did switch it off, right? It's the little lever concentric to the shutter speed dial, lower front. Red dot exposed = self timer on, red dot covered = self timer off.

yeah, crazy! fm T for $350?!?! well, a few other things too... truth be told i prefer the f3hp. the finder on that camera is something to behold! i am a complete sucker for big, big finders.
i'm pretty stoked about the 105mm f2.5 as well! funny, bag full of modern, full frame dslr's and i get all giddy over a 40 year old lens.

the 105mm f2.5 is a great lens! I have two, a non-ai (use it with my F2 bodies) and an ai version. I used to use a pair of F3HP as my main cameras. I still have one of them and still use it occasionally.

Have you swapped the battery for a BRAND NEW ONE? Cleaned the battery connections? Try firing the manual shutter speed (can not remember how to do this off the top of my head).
Try a quick post over at Nikonians.org, more up their alley.
Give a look for an F3 manual on the net, I know there is one, but do not remember where. There might be a button or series of buttons to press "reset" the system.
Let me know how you make out.
Another thing is that I think you need to load a roll of film to get the camera to work. That rings a bell too. Got a trash (cheap, out of date) roll you can give up?
Drop me a PM and let me know how you do. That's all I can think of quickly.

You got some nice finds there. You might find the info that you are looking for on the F3HP and self timer operation here http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/classics/nikonf3ver2/f3manual/index.htm .

well i fixed the f3 hp and i am pretty stoked to use it!
there are three set screws on the shutter speed dial. remove the rubber grip and there they are... remove them and the whole assembly comes off. on the shutter release side is the trip for the self timer. re-set it and voila!
the trick is to remember where you had the shutter dial set to!
cheers
