Nikon DF... taking a turn for the worse?

You are mad because the thing is versatile enough to use with latest glass if desired?

wow.

No one is going to force you to AF. That's obvious
, so I guess you are disappointed that others will be able to if they want.

Just use an old Nikon, and be pure.

Not sure you read the thread or understood it. Nobody is mad. Nobody dislikes AF. And if somebody wants is a D4 those are on sale already.

I agree. However, in digital, there will never be a pure camera like there was in the film days. It's electronic and that requires menus and stuff. Even the M9 has a menu.

Totally agree. Electronics is the key. Once electronics arrived with film cameras the simplicity was on the way out too.
The menus on most digital cameras are a lot easier to use than the menus on the more recent electronic film cameras. At least you don't require a cheat sheet like you do to change configurations on an F100 etc.

How about your list?

Can't wait to see what pinhole shooters will write!

I am wondering what Nikon's own list is. The lens that emerges in the end of the video briefly before it fades to black is a 50mm AF-S 1.8G lens.

AF-S is obviously autofocus and G are the lenses without aperture rings.
Going on the basis of the sounds, I am surmising for Nikon pure means a dedicated dial for aperture and a dial for shutter speed, which make a nice clicking sound.

It's an amusing pass time watching all these Messiah cameras, but I think fatigue is setting in after all the disappointments. I think the Nikon offering will be more interesting than the mini M! Still for the rumoured price you could buy the whole back catalogue of Nikon pure (film) cameras, with some nice lenses.

OK, I was alarmed to see that it appears that the rewind knob that I love so much on my FM2N, FM3A and F3HP is.....GONE on the DF!!! Pure my foot! Why can't they make you virtually rewind the digital film into the card before offloading???

This is getting very frustrating indeed.

Even better: Crank the rewind lever and the SD card slides out the side! 😛

Many kinds of purity exist, but the one kind I'd wish for is a camera without exposure compensation in P mode. Especially if it's also equipped with M mode. :bang:

Because exposure compensation in P mode is the stupidest invention since alcohol-free beer.

😛

Oh and if it's on it and all the other stuff is cool, I'd still buy it. Ha!

So far the Nikon DF has been performing wonderfully... at keeping people from pre-ordering the competitor's cameras. Let me know how it works next Summer.

Clever timing on Nikon's part and probably caused quite a few cancelations of Sony pre-orders! 😀
