Nikon F and F2 finders

I'm aware that F2 finders will fit on the F if you remove the 'Nikon' nameplate that is present on most (or all) of the F2 finders. How about the reverse? Can I fit an F finder (I'm interested in the plain prism) to an F2? Has anybody here done that?

Thanks! It's a little funny looking, but if it works, I don't think I care. Seems like the F prisms might be a little more common, but I'm not sure I'm ready to pay the asking prices I've seen recently.
