Nikon F2 DP-1 finder bust.

Long story short. Camera on table, cats chasing each other, camera goes to the floor with a bang.

Damages to housing: None.
Damages to finder: The wheel fot setting shutter-speed and ASA is most likely broke or at least dent. Stiff and more or less unresponsive with one or to fingers.
Damages to lens: Filter-thread bust.

The lensdamages I can live with. However, the finder is, as I stated, bust.
Now its almost impossible to adjust time on the fly. With for me means that I have no other option then to: Buy new finder (in Sweden, this is kinda hard, sense no one are willing to sell.
Or I can by an F3.

Is there ANY way to repair the wheel? If so how? I really don't have any money to spear.

Check with Gandy (cameraquest). He repairs F2s, or Sover Wong in the UK.

Step 1 = figure out what needs repairing.

True, it's likely that the damage is to the finder's dial assembly only, but you should remove the finder and check the body's function without the finder attached and check the finder's dial's function when not attached to the body. If too much of the finder has been bent/distorted by the impact it may prove more practical to replace the finder.

If I remove the finder, the shutterspeedwheel is still stiff, however, not as stiff as with the finder on.

Is it is right now, i really cant afford a repair (rent, insurance and stuff), but I guess oatmeal is a way to live to :/

As said before, the shutterwheel is not AS stiff as with the finder on, but still somewhat stiff.

Affordable DP-1's in working condition frequently turn up on ebay - these tend to get sold as people upgrade to meterless or AI finders.

It seems that I have solved the problem partly. It works now, better, but still not as good as before. I have my eyes set for a Nikon F3 (better controls for me), or at the very least, a new finder.
But, I greatly appreciate your help!

So you want to say that cats were the responsible for the broken camera.I must say that you have to be careful about your goods..Just think that if your creativity stuff is eaten by your cat one day then what would be your reaction 🙂

I own a F2 and a cat: I will be very carefull with my camera in the future I think!!
