No migtex, you're not lucky, you're a Nikon owner!!
It's funny that you own a D2H because I own one too. Not many D2H's were made, as compared to the number of D1's & D1x's produced. That camera was my introduction to digital photography, so it's nice to find someone that still has one in use.
Those 1st generation digital Nikons can be a bit of a challenge, needing more than a little tweaking to get the white balance right (a teething issue not too unlike Leica's M8 needing IR filters) but when corrected, the results can be stunning.![]()
Bye the way, I see that you own a Bessa R2S. I've been looking for a used one but they don't come up for sale too often. How do you like it?
Well, I bought the D2H and loved every minute of it even more than the D2X. Those megapixels were great megapixels and didn't take up nearly as much file size!
I'm loosing my F2 GAS... think I'd be better off with a FM2.
I'm a meter guy and a small camera guy...

@Calzone -- You're absolutely right that the DE-1 finder has no electronics having to do with metering. But in the spirit of being encyclopedic, the DE-1 does have an external socket where you can plug in a cord from period Nikon flashes. Through the cord, your flash can turn on a "ready" light that you can see without taking the DE-1 away from your eye. So the DE-1 isn't quite as non-electronic as the F plain prism.
Thanks for the correction. Although I have an old Vivitar 283, its rarely I ever use flash. I forgot and overlooked the flash socket.

What's flash?
Seriously, thanks for the information guys. Got the F2 brochure and am simply amazed at the system.

For me, since a Nikon F2 was my first camera back in art school, getting a F2 again has been a nostalgic regression. A lot like buying my first car which would have been a 1967 Mustang convertible.
BTW my Noct-Nikkor looks awesome on my black F2 with DE-1. Also with a 45/2.8 P what fast handling.

The FM2n would be the best SLR in my book if the F2 didn't beat it on two points:
The lower magnification of the F system over the FM/FE series is great for those who, like me wear glasses.
100% viewfinder...
Right now, my F2a+50mm f/2 is my all around camera, simply because it is "tough as nails and cheap as chips" (well, compared to the RF equivalent).
But I remain in love with RFs...

Mike, most of the time the camera I carry with me when I'm working in Africa is the D2H workhorse. It handles everything, has dings and scratche and dust all around but always delivers, of course has only 4 MP but not all pixels are born equal!
The R2S's are different from the Nikon RF's, much lighter nevertheless well built and with an amazing viewfinder if one compares with the Nikon (with the exception of the S2...).
It's like a result of mixing Leica & Nikon principles done on a warmer summer night... (well done Mr. K-San)
I own a NHS model, a "normal" R2S plus an R2 M for the Nikkor LTM's lens.
I do feel really bad on what Dave comment, I guess I may start selling all the Gear soon too... with the exception of the D2H I guess, it's so beaten no one wants it...
In the mean time enjoy the WallPaper

No, Mig, no! Since our days on Nikonians, you have been the bright light in the Nikon way...the RFs and the SLRs. You made me buy the F3/T and the S3 2000. Your porn photos are an inspiration...so no way can you sell off the gear!
Every enthusiast needs inspiration and now you've given it the F2 GAS to me!
Oh, thanks for the wallpaper! I am still looking for your link to the docs. Had it the other day and lost it!

Dave, no Nikonians anymore (just in spirit) or NHS (in heart) I wish I could maintain it.
Thank you for your kind works on bringing you onto the darkside of the LightForce, nevertheless credit must be given, the greatest Porners are Jonmanjiro, Goliath and Shadowfox.

finally found a almost mint black f2, almost because of the slight ding in the de-1 prism, but function is 100% doesn't bother me at all, price was too good to pass up, it's an user cam after all, viewfinder is a dream, i added a diagonal prism screen, speechless

While the diagonal split image on the P screen would appear to be ideal in accounting for horizontal and vertical lines when using the central focusing aid, in practice it's one of the worst. That's because the human visual system best utilizes vernier acuity with a horizontal split image giving true vertical displacement of a vertical line. A diagonal split is far more difficult for the eye to judge slight vertical misalignment but with a horizontal split it's fairly easy to detect even slight misalignment. This goes back to infancy being first exposed to vertical slats in a crib.

The question is not to „need“ a F2.
Bought my first black F2 Photomic 'bout 18 years ago because she looked so damn beautiful.
Then followed a second black F2 Photomic as backup.
Photomic because i like the needle in the viewfinder.
Next was a near mint chrome F2 Photomic because she looked so damn beautiful.
My last was a F2 Titanium.
Now my last wish is a F2 made of stainless steel

I thought about one made of depleted uranium, but I would keep having problems with it exposing my film.

Am I the only one here to be surprised how my F2 is easy on the vibration chapter?
It's not quiet by any standard, but I can feel more vibration in my hand when I release the shutter on an F, an FM, a contax 139, and even a Leica M3 I had (and whose shutter was maybe over tensed?)
