Nikon F2 Gas

wow some cameras in the replies, I need an F2 now..

contarama's pic is very convincing, it's exaclty the one i'm after, nice black, with plain prism

are you selling? :)

An F2 was my first F and my second camera.

Sadly I had to sell it buy a bike to get to work. The old one was stolen.

Now some 30+ years later I think I'll revisit my first love :)

Has anyone here replaces the film advance lever of their F2 with the silver one from a Nikon F?

I went down this road recently and found that I was happy enough with my F2 memories and didn't need a "new" one.

Now, if I somehow came across one of my actual own F2s from back in the day, that would be another story!

If money is no object, go for the Titanium version of the F2, they will either have "Titan" engraved in front with a serial number that begins with "F2T 79xxxx" or the plain version with serial number that begins with "92".

The F2 is a solid camera that does not need CLA even after many years sitting on the shelf. The Nikkor non-AI lenses are super cheap these days.

I wouldn't get one!!

They're incredibly heavy and big...

And they look ugly brassed...

Most of all, they're addicting!

my new F2a is trying to pass the customs here...:bang:
Some Nikkors seem to be just great.
I have the 50 f/2 and the 28 2.8 AIS..
I just need a 105 and I'm done

The Nikon F2 and F3 are just about the most horrible ugly cameras I've ever used. And I should know, I have these cameras.

-That hideous ratchety sound when you advance the frame.
-that wrenching clank when the mirror comes back down.
-The worst viewfinders ever made.
-Those ridiculous "bunny ears" on the lenses are an embarrassment to everyone.
-Having to use a pipe wrench to remove the lenses is not good design.
-Every time I write the word "Nikon" my spell checker puts a red line under it.
-The only thing uglier than the chrome F2 is the all black F2.
-They are all old....sometimes really old. Some over 40 years old....that is far far to old for a camera.
-They use film....they don't make film anymore!
-They rust really easy.
-Oil drips out of them onto your clothes.
-The worst is the prices they want for the damned things too....and bloody well going up!!

(yes, I'm kidding!!!!!)

And I was just about to sell my F2AS... But even if it's such a great performer no matter the weather; cold, ice, sun, rain, I tend to use my OM-2 instead, why so? I need a shrink...

Hah, I did the same last week. Actually a few weeks ago as a part of some trading I ended up with several Nikkor AIs lenses. I thought it only fitting to try and find a body to go with em. When I was kid I always dug the F2 and F3, and I should have gotten an F3 to really go with this lenses, but the F2 kind of won out for me.

...you made a very good choice. :)

Visiting LA in 1983, I went to SAM's and I mentioned I own an F2 "Titan." Sammy immediately offered me a thousand bucks anytime I wanted to unload it. Wonder how much will he offer me now? Thinking of switching to digital.
