Nikon F2 Gas

two questions:

what would be a good price for a titan?

which one is rarer, the one with 'titan' name print on it, or the plain-titan 'understantement' one?

any advice from the nikon experts?

Don't show me these pictures, please. My partner already mocks my fascination/rolling acquisition of cameras. :)

I just couldn't help myself when my father asked me if I wanted this one. I had to have it. The feel, the weight, the incredible sound of the shutter. Mine is beaten and battered, but works like a tank from Russia. No problem. I have a feeling I will use this more than I thought.

The F2 with non-metered prism can handle being tossed out of the back of an airborne C-130, landing on hard packed earth and auguring itself into the ground a few inches. For durability's sake, I see no reason NOT to get one.

F2AS has a meter that goes to -2EV.

Also, even though I'm a F3 fan and own 2, I have to say a F3 is a bit of a brute when compared to a F2. To me F2's are the sexiest cameras that Nikon ever made. I had a pair of F2AS's, and now I wish I had at least one of them. The build quality is excelent.

The F2 is the only camera that I have owned continuously for over 35 years, and I still have two, a F2S, and this F2 Photomic:

Would someone here have a part donor DP-11?
I have kind of repaired a bad crack on mine but I would love to make it beautiful again...:)
Thanks!

The F2 infection has spread, and it didn't take long for me to locate and buy a chrome F2 with DE-1. Found it at B&H and it was misplaced in the accessory section for $299.00 in "8" condition. It is a user that displays numerious small nicks and dings, but no dents. The only thing it needs to be done is have the foam seals replaced, otherwise it is straight.

I think I got a good deal. The eye level prism is very much like what I see in my F3 non HP. About the same magnification, contrast and brightness, and this is good. :)

Also as already posted: the next step is a Titan. Looks boss with either a 35/2.0 Nikkor-O with hood, or a Noct-Nikkor AIS.

Woah, Cal
This F2/DE1 was tempting me there for months (I think I gave a HU on one of the threads).
I was amazed to see it priced at about the same level as DE-1s alone...
congrats, great buy!

Thanks. I feel like I'm a lucky guy yet again.

I find it always is great to live in NYC because frequently I find stuff at B&H and Adorama that were mistakenly priced or graded too low. Also I can see what I'm getting.

That's how I got my Noct-Nikkor for $2.5K, a Rollei "Whiteface 3.5F for $999.00, a clean 50 Rigid V.1 that had just been CLA'ed for $499.00...

Calzone, I can appreciate your sentiments on living where you have a source of used equipment to rummage through.
Our last camera store, that catered to the used gear market, closed years ago. They just could not compete with the mega stores that are only
interested in the massed digital, new camera buyers.
Sure do miss the old "mom & pop" camera store where you could go wheel'n deal your way into new to you gear.

Warren, I have to agree with with you there. The F2 is the the only camera that I have owned continuously, through all the cameras that I have owned, from the time I purchased a new F2S in 1976.
Also, I have the F2SB, that was purchased new, the following year.
Today, I still use these cameras & they still do what they were designed to do. Have not had a problem with them, can't say that about some others I've owned.

So after a few weeks of finding parts for a few lenses, I'm done at least rebuilding 20mm f2.8 ais.
