Help me out my friends. Not in a mood for a Google rabbit hole.
What do I have and what is this all worth? I want to sell it.
Took it in payment for something last summer.
Nikon is excellent I know but I don't wish too adopt another system.
Pics below plus one more lens a 200mm f4.
I put a battery in and the meter is good!
Thanks!

In the UK eBay prices would be-
£200 ish for a nice metered f2
£60-75 for pre ai 50
£40-60 for the 28
These are realistic prices that the stuff will actually sell

Nikon F2S with some classic Nikkor lenses. In my estimation, a hard to beat combination. Value, all in good condition, $250-$300?

F2 with a DP-1 finder. I bought one just like this last year, with a 50/1.4 Nikkor, for $150.00 (craigslist). No idea on the other stuff.

I would think this nice looking F2 chrome is worth $225, the 50 F1.4 non AI, to me (I have two just like yours) is worth $150, the 28mm F3.5 is worth the same ( still have mine bought new), and the 200 F4 is less than a $100.

Andy you've got a nice Nikon F2 with the DP-1 meter and garden variety lenses. Provided the camera is in EX shape and the meter works properly and isn't erratic with any prism desilvering the body on average is worth around $100-125. The 50 1.4, I've bought several very clean ones for $45 each. The 28 F3.5 is in the neighborhood of $35-45 and the 200 around $45. Probably the lenses will be a little tough to sell as there are load of them for sale. The body is the best slr ever built per several repairmen I've known. I personally still use an F and F2 just like that one and have several 50 1.4's and a 28 3.5.
I used three F2's with two motor drives in my work for many years. They're of the same build and quality as the M2 and M3 Leicas.
For the full package depending on condition I'd try for $225-235.
A good friend has offered to give me his entire F2 package with several Nikkors. I have to drive 100 miles and I'm in no hurry to do so.
Good luck.

This whole thing ....taking this as payment was a a bit of a lose for me.

Thanks all for your comments!

It's funny... I learned on an Nikon F but then could not afford one way back when I bought my first SLR (1983).
At that time, This new line was offered by Yashica when I bought the FR... and a couple years later a Planar for it... and then an RTS. ....and then.... etc. C/Y became my 135 system
I never looked back at the Nikons again.
It's nice gear. The F2 is a mechanical treat!

I gotta go with x-ray on this. Especially on the lenses. If they are haze/fungus free, anywhere from $50 - $75, as long as the aperture blades are oil free and snappy. There were just so many of those made.
Best,

I agree with X-Ray. The 50/1.4 might go for a little more, maybe $75 but otherwise his prices are good. The meter has to work.

I still like the DP-1 finder and especially like the F2. F2's just keep going and going and going. They have a titanium foil shutter and are all mechanical and work consistently under the most extreme conditions. I bought the three I had (still use 1) used and shot many thousands of rolls through them and the only repair was a rewind gear in one of my motors. None ever required a meter calibration.
Best of luck!

I listed it pretty low.
It's tempting to keep it around for one of the kids.
I've got other cameras they can take. This one is for a grown up

Andy,
The F2 is one of the best built cameras ever. However, there are a lot of them, and Nikon film SLRs nowadays don't command a high price. You have the F2 with the original DP-1 metering finder. Great if the meter still works, as a lot of these no longer have functioning meters due to a dead resistor.
For those who just want to take pictures, the camera is worth a trip to Sover Wong. However, as Sover fully dismantles it, cleans, and relubes as he rebuilds, it will be worth it only for those who intend to keep using the camera. Sover can also replace the ring resistor in the meter to make it fully functional for the next few decades. It is an expensive service.
If you just want to sell it to pass it on, then the F2 body itself is maybe in the $250 range. The lenses are non-AI, which means that they can only be used with certain cameras that have meters that couple with them (some Nikkormats, Nikon FTN, F2 Photomic), or have an AI coupler lever that can flip up out of the way. Stop down metering is required in the latter case. So, not a lot of value in the lenses for trading purposes, although for photography they are fine lenses.

Just did a quick survey at a popular online site here in Tokyo. The average price for a Nikon F2 with dp-1 finder (body & finder only) is USD 224.00 (black) and USD 193.00 (silver)...

That's probably the most common variant of F2. Just like mine actually.... I paid $350 for it back in 1995. Big F2 fan here... I really should shoot with it more often.
I remember back when I was looking to buy an F2; Helix Camera in Chicago had several used bodies for sale. Supposedly they had been traded in from the Sun-Times! Tons of patina and brassing; people would pay extra for that nowadays.

What you have,is probably the best mechanical SLR camera ever made, bar none. The build quality of the camera & lenses will never be repeated, maybe Leica, but at what price ! Put a couple of rolls through it,livein in the`70`s

The F2 is the last of the hand assembled Nikons and my favorite. A very versatile system with a huge line of lenses (I personally have way beyond 50 Nikkors). I'm sure someone will take this off your hands.

If you're a film shooter, the F2 is certainly one of the best if not the very best mechanical camera ever made. Great camera. It has better handling than the F that preceded it and was more durable and reliable than the F3 that replaced it--that's my experience anyway. But if you aren't gonna use it, it's best to get it in the hands of someone who will.
