I have had this mechanical beast of mine (A nikon F2) for almost a year now. There is only one problem, i don't like the size of it. If i have to compare the weight of it to my Bronica SQ-B it is the same weight for all practical purposes. On top of that bad comparision i found the wonderful world of rangefinder, so the Nikon F2 has practically been left as "a shelf queen".
So here is my dilemma, i have been trying to sell it for a while specifically craigslist and a one time listing on Ebay, but neither have yielded results. I think ebay yielded no results as i have such a low rating... not one to trust ebay or buy often on ebay.Where do you think i can generate interest for it? It is not a metered version, it has the original DE-1 finder and is in great overall condition besides some minor brassing (But we all know that makes it prettier).
If anyone is interested (not trying to make this an ad, really) i want to sell if for 235$ US and here are some pictures of it: http://www.flickr.com/photos/dylan_saks/
(sorry for the bronica self portrait sneaking in)

While I disagree with the beast denomination; take some better photos of and put an ad in the classifieds here at RFF. As it has the unmetered prism, I am sure someone is going to want it.

You just happen to live on the wrong side of the pond lol, I'm after an F2 as well, but not through UK custom. Good luck, and just post it in the classified.

The best camera is one that still works!
The F series Nikon is not a big camera ... I double a case from my M2 with my FM3A.
It fits in easily and actually needs packing to get it to sit high enough ... hardly a beast!
You need better pics of the camera ... probably with a lens fitted maybe and offer it here in the classifieds.

oh boy, you will cry-- the "wonderful world of rangefinder" is tiny and fragile compared to the "shrug it off and move on" world of the F2. M3 much more of a shelf queen here

The FM/FE series is quite compact, but the F series are on the "beasty" side for sure. The F2 is noticeably wider than the FM3A and a lot heavier (730 grams without finder vs. 570 grams total).

Ohh ... it is a little porky!
Well ... you've just summed up my extensive knowledge of Nikon cameras!
Sigh ... back to my studies.

try www.photo.net They have members interested in classics. Truth be told: Although it is a very good camera the F3 hp with the Ai-S and Zeiss lenses far out shines the F2....IMHO.

It's a great little lens, Cale. You won't regret it.
Though you'd still need a pretty large pocket even with this lens!

I have an F2 and I find it just right for whacking BBC reporters that don't bathe and are pushy. (Wow a 30 year old flashback).

I got my "beast" on a 3-inch wide, neoprene strap and I barely feel it. Spread the load and it's fine on the shoulder.

The F, F2 are beasts...I love my nikon F (minty and CLA'ed by pete smith) but I have to admit that I never took it out to take pictures....The fm3a and fm2n just seem more "pocketable" if that's a word

I have two Nikon F2 cameras. I use them quite often, when I'm away from home as I like the battery independence. The idea that this is a heavy or large camera never occurred to me.
I'm not a big person and a little elderly now, but packing a F2 around is not a burden in the least.
Funny how you get used to some things; I have a FE as well (which I got for the wife before she turned to the dark side) I find it to be a fine little camera, but the weight of the thing feels less substantial for me in some way. I don't use it.
Now a F4S is a burdensome beast. It is a lovely marvelous creative tool with all the matrix metering, motors, automatic stuff......but that bugger is a beast.

I rather have an F2 (or F3) over an Fm/Fe any day, the build quality is so much better. The F-series feels like a Leica, the Fm/Fe-series feel like Bessas.
Of course all I have at the moment is an Fe but it only cost $30 ;-) a good user F3 would cost at least $80!

Granted the F series are better/more solidly built than the FE/FM series, but there is a HUGE difference between the build quality of my FM3A and any Bessa (or Zeiss Ikon for that matter) I've owned. The FM3A is waaaay superior!

You are right; the F2 feels substantial in my hands, much like the M2. In fact it is as well made as my M2.I rather have an F2 (or F3) over an Fm/Fe any day, the build quality is so much better. The F-series feels like a Leica, the Fm/Fe-series feel like Bessas.

I cannot imagine selling my F2s. I won't get enough for them and they work too darned well. I do not have a DE-1 finder, just a DP-1 and a DP-11 so I'm just a tiny bit more battery dependent.
The FE feels a little Bessa like. But I would not put the excellent FE in the same quality category as the Bessa stuff.
