Nikon F5

I have 2 Nikon F5's and the question is that when I press the Lock button the Aperture lock indicator shows in the viewfinder but I can't seem to activate the Focus Lock indicator in the Top LCD panel, I have check both cameras and neither of them will show Focus Lock indicator in the top LCD panel, so obviously I must be doing something wrong or perhaps one of the CMS is set wrong, has anybody come across this problem before ?

Check pages 39, 59 and 61. This should make it clear.
