Nikon F6 is already 10 years old !!!

my father had an f90x, l hankered after one back i around 1996, but stayed with my trusty, (long gone), F801S....would have loved to own an f5 or 6

I've used lots of different SLRs over the years.
But:
The Nikon F6 is the best designed 35mm SLR.
It is a real dream camera.
I can highly recommend it, using mine for years.
I am so much satiesfied with this wonderful camera that I will buy another brand new one this spring (I am often using color and BW film parallel, so a second identical body makes sense for me).

Its release doesn't feel like it was that long ago to me (where did the time go? 😱), but yes the Nikon F6 has already turned 10 years old. It's 10th birthday was October 22nd, 2014, just over four months ago!

When it was released, the digital age was already well and truly upon us, and I remember wondering at the time who would ever think of buying an F6 with so many digital and other film options readily available. Then I owned one briefly about four years ago and realised just how good it was, but foolishly sold it. Now I've just bought another used one in perfect condition. What an amazing camera. I think I'll keep this one 🙂

Yeah, time is running. It felt like it was yesterday when the F6 was introduced.
Well, nevertheless:
10 years, and the F6 is still in production, alive and kicking 🙂.
Congrats to Nikon!
They wanted to design the best 35mm SLR ever. And they did exactly that!!
The F6 is a dream camera, perfect in every aspect.
I am so satiesfied with mine (using it with the MB-40 vertical grip and the MV-1 data reader).
The best camera purchase I've ever made. I will never give it away!

I have been thinking about getting a Df, as the prices have now come down quite a bit, but I have been thinking an F6 may be better. I have an F and FE and a few Nikkor lenses for those and I'm a happy filmwaster.

Has anyone here gotten their F6 converted to use pre-Ai lenses? Apparently Nikon offers the service here in Japan for 12,960 yen, but I'm not sure about elsewhere. I'm very tempted.

I prefer the F5 but the F6 is certainly legendary.

I remember the F4 when it was new. It seemed so "Star Wars" at the time.
Looking back, the product placement of the F4 in the Jurassic park movie was so obvious. That must have cost Nikon a lot to do that.

I got an F6 mid last year and I think I agree with Keith that it is the best 35mm camera ever made. Is a joy to use and the meter is incredibly accurate. Have a Zeiss 15/2.8, which is big, but with the F6 is a great performer. Even sold my M6 because I used the F6 more. Hard thing to admit on this forum.

hmm 10 years.. iirc F6 shared same focusing system with D2 or some of its variants.

had F100 once, wonder how it compares to F6. similar size and weight. different age obviously.
