So it's been a few weeks since I got my F6. Finally got my first couple of rolls back. The camera is amazingly FUN to shoot with - real joy. The viewfinder is fantastic and easy for wearers of glasses to enjoy. The matrix metering is impressive. The ergonomics are almost perfect.

I've uploaded some shots to Flickr. If any other rffrs have thought about getting an F6 I have 2 words for you: GET ONE!

Ciao Riverman
if it wouldn't sound a bit snobby, I'd say "welcome to the club" however I'm glad you enjoy your F6 as I do.

Fine camera. I like to show family, when they remark it's too big, how I can hold it dangling at my side with 1 fingertip under the grip (with the 50 on it!). Excellent --

I have always wanted an F6. My F5 is nice, but too big-- and the F100 was the right size but was too plasticky and got destroyed by weather. I guess the F6 is where it's at.

A really nice camera. Most of my shooting is with M's, but I spent last Saturday morning shooting crew races from the side of the Montlake Cut in Seattle with a F6 and a 300. Even with the heavier battery grip, it balanced well in the hand and was effortless to work with.

Once, about a year ago, I handled one. My fingers immediately wrapped around the grip and found all the buttons and commands without twisting or bending or doing any type of contortion. It's a Nikon F body... and really at the top of the line.

It'd be nice to have one. It'd have a lot of things to talk to with my F100 and my F5. :)

Cheers Dino. I have to say the F6 does make me feel like a poseur when I'm wandering round with it! It's such a thing of beauty. I know I shouldn't compare apples and oranges but given how much of a photographic punch the F6 packs I also don't think it's bad value next to the price of an M7.

I sold my F6 to buy my M6 and Zeiss lens.

The F6 is a beautiful camera. But at the end of the day, for ME it was just like a D700, but made me have to deal with scanning, processing, etc. (obviously the F6 came first).

If the F6 was around when Steve McCurry was shooting film, he would have been shooting it instead of his F100. Now of course, he's digital and shooting a D700 and a digital Hassleblad MF.

There's always the used market... a source of hope for us, non-early adopters. :)

Sometimes I think I ought to get one... but then, what's another SLR for? I have the best there is already: the F100 and the F5 (and neither of them is plasticky). But then, the lure of the F6 is kinda difficult to resist, especially when (at least to me) it seems to combine the best of the F100 and the F5.

Time to keep dreaming... At least it's more affordable than the M9! ;)

Hey Guys...
I don't have the F6 but do own an F5...and I have a question...
Which metering mode do you use...I been using Center Weight for everything (Flash & Outdoors Daylight) I'm thinking of going to Matrix for the Daylight stuff...what say you???
